AQUAFLEX ROOFS MAXI LA

Ready-to-use liquid acrylic membrane for waterproofing roofs and coverings on a wide range of surfaces.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

For exposed waterproofing of:

Balconies, roofs, and terraces
Sloped roofs and vertical surfaces
Gutters and inclined areas
Domes and curved coverings.

Some examples of application

Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA can be applied on::

Cement-based or special binder-based substrates (Topcem, Topcem Pronto, and Mapegrout)
Concrete
Wooden detail structures
Unglazed tiles and ceramics, clay roof tiles, fiber cement, etc., after priming with the same product diluted 10% with water
Zinc, copper, aluminum, steel, or iron sheets, after application of Eco Prim Grip primer

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA is a one-component, colored paste for exterior use, based on synthetic resins in aqueous dispersion. Once dry, it forms a continuous, elastic, waterproof, and protective membrane with strong adhesion.

Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA withstands all weather conditions, is unaffected by pollution or UV radiation, and provides long-lasting surface protection.

Its thixotropic nature allows for easy application with a roller, brush, or spray on horizontal, sloped, and vertical surfaces.

Once dry, it becomes an elastic, continuous film with excellent weather, aging, and UV resistance.

It accommodates normal substrate movement due to thermal changes or vibrations.

IMPORTANT WARNINGS

Do not apply at temperatures below +5°C or above +35°C, or in case of imminent rain or dew.
Do not use in water reservoirs, below-ground levels, or areas subject to vehicular or constant foot traffic.
Do not apply on glazed or vitrified ceramics, or on low-absorption (closed-pore) materials.
Do not apply on dew-covered surfaces.
Do not apply if ambient relative humidity exceeds 85%.
Do not apply on damp surfaces (>4% moisture content) or on substrates with rising damp.
Do not apply on friable cementitious surfaces, poorly bonded existing floors, or surfaces with treatments that hinder adhesion.
Do not apply over painted metal surfaces.
Do not apply over bituminous or asphalt membranes less than 6 months old, which may release oils or plasticizers.
Protect from rain for at least 8–12 hours after each coat, under normal temperature and humidity conditions, and depending on substrate absorption.

APPLICATION METHOD

Surface preparation:

New or existing surfaces must be cured, clean, dry, and free of oils, greases, cement laitance, existing paints, rust, mold, or any contaminants that could hinder adhesion.

Concrete and mortar substrates must have an adequate slope, free of depressions or irregularities that may cause water ponding. Moisture content must be below 4%.

Minor repairs can be made using Mapegrout or Topcem mortars.

In old ceramic tile installations where grout has deteriorated, regrouting with Mapegrout 430 is required prior to application.

Such surfaces must be free of waxes, water repellents, etc., using appropriate detergents and/or sanding.

Before applying Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA, treat expansion joints and junctions between horizontal and vertical surfaces with Mapeband Easy embedded in Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA.

For structural joints (with movement), use Mapeband TPE fixed with Adesilex PG1.

Use a continuous reinforcement mesh between coats of Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA.

Product preparation:

The product is ready to use. Stir the contents of the container if needed to ensure perfect homogeneity.

Product application:

Apply Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA evenly using a roller, brush, or spray.

As a primer coat on absorbent surfaces, dilute the product with 10% water. Allow to dry and then apply two undiluted coats.

Wait until the first coat is completely dry before applying the next. The product is considered dry when it is no longer tacky to the touch.

Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA offers a durability of over 12 years when regular preventive maintenance is performed.

For areas larger than 20 m², use polypropylene mesh reinforcement between coats.

Cleaning:

Tools must be cleaned with water immediately after application.

COVERAGE

4.5 m² per gallon on smooth substrates with two coats.

Coverage corresponds to the application of a continuous film on an even surface and may vary on absorbent or irregular substrates.

For applications with reinforcement mesh, preliminary testing is recommended to determine material consumption.

The final thickness of Aquaflex Roofs Maxi LA must never be less than 0.7 mm to ensure a continuous and elastic film.
